Back Ground Information

Commercial building companies and formwork companies are making increased use of tilt panel formwork construction methods.  The popularity of tilt panel form work construction methods lay in the speed of erecting formwork tilt panels, lower formwork construction costs and better overall quality of formwork panel finishes.

That Old Chestnut

However significant production savings are often lost having to make expensive alterations to formwork tilt panels following installation.  Commonly drip line moldings are often missing - or  formwork tilt panels have been damaged in transit to the building site - or formwork tilt panels do not match with on site plans or formwork floor slab sections and require extensive cutting and repairs.

Poorly motivated and resourced labourers referred to as patchers, recruited and cajoled from the ranks of the unwilling, are generally the most likely candidates to perform this dusty, difficult but skilled concrete rectification role.

This use of semi skilled or poorly resourced labour generally results in: inferior job quality finishes, lengthened job completion times, higher scaffold and crane hire costs, high labour costs, delays for painting and finishing trades, the use of unsafe work practices, the need to purchase and supply expensive safety equipment, the need to comply with strict work place health and safety regulations, high rates of worker injury, high rates of staff turnover, absenteeism, expensive back charges to sub contractors, missing or poorly maintained equipment, significant equipment hire costs, significant material wastage costs, significant equipment purchase costs, significant staff supervision costs, the potential for labour disputes, etc - etc.
