Cutting
concrete ceilings is a very unpleasant and unpopular task to perform as
the operator’s face, hair, eyes, clothes and work environment in
general is showered in concrete dust and grit.
This ceiling cutting task also presents a significant element of
danger as this task is preformed with poor visibility and involves the
use of high-speed grinders with sharp masonry blades, standing on a
step-ladder or narrow trestle and holding the grinder in one hand above
the head with the cutting blade being in close proximity to the head.
With a tendency for the blade to occasionally “grab” and for
the grinder to dislodge from the operators grip, it is therefore
desirable to perform this dusty and very dangerous task from the floor
at a safe distance, via the use of a lightweight dolly system,
extendable pole, dust-cutting shroud and vacuum operated dust extraction
system.
